Making a battery powered car for the rails.

These little things can be found at Toys R Us for about $6.00.  There are many different models but you only want the undercarriage anyway, and those are all the same.

These are powered by a single AA battery.  There is sufficient power in the little motor to amble a little kit bashed something or other around the track. My ambition is to make a small rail inspection care or lineman car.
The wheels are pulled and the first train wheel has been inserted.  Notice that both axles have power from the small motor.
Once you pull the wheels, you can cut some plastic wheels to fit the axles as noted in the photo on the left. Just clamp the wheels and pull the axle witha pair of plyers.
These are relatively easy to take apart. You will need a small phillips screwdriver to take out the few screws.. Note how the switch and axles are seated in the car body.
