Scrap Metal for Your Train

Yes scrap IRON, a One Evening project. Now take a 2" foam and shape it with a band saw or hot wire. This is a light weight removeable load. Make it fit your favorite gon. see Picture 1

Next: go to your local welding or machine shop,( you should do this the day before other wise it won't be a one evening project) he will say take it, its FREE! Have all you want! ( be sure to have gloves and a metal fork or shovel). 1/2 of a 5 gal bucket is good. See Picture 2.

What you need
A Gondola of your choice
Styrofoam
Scrap Metal   
Saw or hotwire to shap foam.
Paint - Note: Styrofoam will react with certain paints
Silicon - Clear

Now after painting the foam black or gray, let it dry then use clear silicone and apply heavy, then ( not using sissy figures here) lightly apply scrap metal and press in. Tip over then reapply in thin spots.

Let dry and keep siicone off the sides of foam, by morning you are shipping scrap. And yes it will weather and rust if left outdoors.

I plan to make a scrap iron yard with junk cars and convaryers and all. My son saw the waste iron in 55 gal drums at a job site and thats how I (he)came up with what to use for a load. Have fun.
