So you want to post photos on various Forum sites.  This primer should assist you in doing so.  Eventually, this help aid will tell you how to post photos on the following Forum Websites:

www.largescaleonline.com
www.aristocraft.com                     How to Post Photos on Aristocraft

and the chat site on www.largescalecentral.com.

You will need to get your pictures into a digital format, scan them, or use a digital camera, etc., It is best to save them in the ".JPG" format, with a maximum size of 640 x 480 pixels, try and keep the file size around 50 - 80k.  Most cameras will support the jpeg format.

The larger your photo, the longer it takes to download and it takes up more space on your hosted server.  Most cameras generally come with some type of photo imaging software.  This software assists you in resizing, enhancing colors, cropping, copying, etc.  Windows XP has MSPaint that can also be used.  In short, you want your photos to be no larger than 640 pixels by 480.  The larger the size of the photo, the longer it takes to download.

When you store your photos on your computer or some other storage device, like a floppy diskette or CD, it is best to make several folders to store your photos.  You may want to create several file folders and name them "Trains", "Family", "Vacation" "Train Shows", "Holidays", etc. This assists later in finding your photos when you want to upload them or merely view them.  Make sure and remember the location where you have saved them on your computer. You may also want to rename your photos to something that makes sense to you.  I generally classify the photo name with a key name and number.  Most of my Large Scale railroad photos are renamed LAR001, where LAR stands for Lizard Attitude Railroad.  I then use numbers to indicate different photos.  Example LAR0023, LAR0025, etc.  I name family photos such as FAM0022, FAM003. Don't use spaces, dashes, and other non-numeric/non letter symbols like brackets, equal signs, etc.

Now that you have your photos stored on your computer [or a CD disk or other backup type device], you need to UPLOAD your photo on to the internet.  You CANNOT store your photos on your computer and expect the world to see them unless the computer you are using is a SERVER.  You store your photos on the web and these photos are in turn, grabbed by commands that are somewhat universal in Forum posting sites.

In the case of this example, the photos will be stored on the MyLargeScale Webspace provided to 1st Class Members.  Other places to store you photos online are generally provided as part of you Internet Service Provider.  AOL does this, Earthlink, MSN etc.   Please refer to your specifice ISP instructions for that type of information.  I personally have webspace on MyLargeScale and Homestead.com and another seperate domain/website www.lizardattitude.com.  All three of these internet sites can "store" my photos.

In the case of MLS, you will need to UPLOAD your photos to the webspace assigned to you as a 1st Class Member.
